2024 will be Broad Bay House's 18th season welcoming guests to our wonderful chain of islands, and we are delighted to be maintaining our reputation as one of the best places to stay in the Outer Hebrides. We are very proud to be the only 5-star Gold Visit Scotland accredited Bed and Breakfast in the Outer Hebrides. Purpose designed and built as a spacious luxury guest house, Broad Bay House is based on a traditional island design, equipped and decorated to a high quality contemporary style.

The location itself is worth the 5-star gold rating, just a few miles north of Stornoway in a small working crofting community, and adjacent to a sweeping sandy beach with direct access from the house to the shore. On a clear day, the Scottish highlands can be seen across the Minch. We are perfectly located in the middle of the island and are therefore an ideal base for exploring both Lewis and Harris.

Inside there are four spacious luxury en-suite guest rooms. All bedrooms are equipped with a flat screen Smart TV, a Bose Bluetooth speaker and DVD player. In addition, each room has a Nespresso machine, complimentary snacks and luxury toiletries. Outside each bedroom is a personal decking area, with seating. Soft colours, natural woods and sympathetic furnishings provide a relaxing environment.
Other guest facilities include free Wi-Fi, a guest laundry and a guest study. We also have an EV Charger for the exclusive use of our guests. The house is fully licensed, and has a wide ranging and interesting wine, gin and malt whisky list. Do have a look at our gin cocktails! A highlight of the house is the large guest dining/lounge which has a vaulted ceiling and windows on three sides, providing lovely views of the coast and local wildlife, while a solid fuel stove makes life cosy when the weather demands. Throughout you will find fresh flowers and complimentary treats.

Food and Drink
Local, fresh, island sourced
We received one of the first Visit Scotland "Taste our Best" food awards in 2013 for our use of the great Outer Hebrides local produce, and that award has been repeated every year since. We pride ourselves on high quality food, based on local ingredients, and we source fresh ingredients from the islands whenever possible. Breakfast is a relaxed and leisurely affair where you can enjoy food freshly cooked to order whilst enjoying the view. Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8 and 9.15 am. There is an extensive continental option followed by a freshly cooked Scottish menu with many options. ​Do have a look at the menu in our Eat & Drink section

For those arriving between 3.30pm and 5pm, complementary tea and a homemade treat is served in the guest lounge where you can relax after your journey.
We are also pleased to offer our guests an informal 3-course set evening meal 2 nights of the week and our sharing platters on 3 nights of the week. Menus and details can be found here.
Sharing Platters

For our sharing platters we serve a choice of 2 platters for two to share – BBH Ultimate Seafood Platter and BBH Scottish Platter. Platters are served on a reclaimed whisky barrel lid reminding us of the strong whisky heritage in Scotland. Each platter showcases the very best from small Scottish artisan producers. From £75 for two people sharing.
Evening Meals

For our 3 course evening meals we serve a set menu, made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients especially the islands’ fish, shellfish and game. £50.00 per person.
