Eat and Drink

The Perfect Choice

We received one of the first Visit Scotland "Taste our Best" food awards in 2013 for our use of the great Outer Hebrides local produce, and that award has been repeated every year since. We pride ourselves on high quality food, based on local ingredients, and we source fresh ingredients from the islands whenever possible. Do have a look at our Green Policy on buying local.

Breakfast is a relaxed and leisurely affair where you can enjoy food freshly cooked to order whilst enjoying the view. Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8 and 9.15am. There is an extensive continental option followed by a freshly cooked Scottish menu with many options. We also have an exclusive porridge menu.

Take a look at our breakfast menu here. And here is our porridge menu.

A packed breakfast is available if you need to depart very early.

For those arriving between 3.30pm and 5pm, complementary tea with homemade cake or a tray bake is served in the guest lounge where you can relax after your journey and sample Sue's baking.

We are pleased to offer our guests an informal 3-course evening meal on a Wednesday and Saturday each week and our sharing platters on a Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. Do ask us to recommend some lovely local restaurants, on the evenings we do not do food, as our local restaurants and foodie outlets need your support too.

Booking in advance to eat with us is essential, please let us know your requirements at the time of booking or as soon as possible and at least 2 weeks in advance. We also highly recommend you book any restaurants you wish to, ahead of your stay.

For our 3 course evening meal we serve a set menu (please check the menu before booking) made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients especially the islands’ fish, seafood and shellfish. £50.00 per person.

For our sharing platters we serve a choice of 2 platters for two to share – BBH Ultimate Seafood Platter and BBH Scottish Platter. Platters are served on a reclaimed whisky barrel lid reminding us of the strong whisky heritage in Scotland. Each platter showcases the very best from small Scottish artisan producers. From £75 for two people sharing with desert.

Dinner is served at 7.15pm and you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink and complementary nibbles in the guest lounge / dining room.

We can cater for vegetarians and vegans for breakfast and our breakfast menu has many vegan and vegetarian options, but please do notify us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate any food intolerance's or allergies providing you advise us well in advance, although we are unable to guarantee that our food is 100% nut or other allergen free. Please do note that owing to the high volume of fish and shellfish which is processed in the kitchen we are unable to serve any customers with a severe fish or shellfish allergy.

For our evening menus, please note, that our platters are not particularly suitable for vegetarians (although the seafood platter is perfect for pescatarians) and our evening meals are a set menu. Do have a look at the monthly menu above to ensure you are happy, before booking.
